Clintonville Walgreens opens Oct. 14

Oct. 12, 2011 | 2 comments

Walgreens of Clintonville will officially open for business on Friday, Oct. 14. The new retail business will offer a wide variety of products and a full service pharmacy.

Store Manager Jason Bischoff said 12 people have been hired to work at the store, and he hopes that number will grow in the future if possible. He also said he is excited to see the store open and is anxious for customers to enjoy everything from the items on the shelves to the building itself.

"This store has a unique look and the inside is different from other Walgreens stores. It also has more windows and has a more 'open' feel to it," he explained. "The building itself is brighter and more energy efficient than some older Walgreens stores. It's very shopper-friendly."

Bischoff also said the full-service pharmacy features many products and services that have been designed with customers in mind. Services are available for all ages, including assistance with Medicare questions that seniors may have.

"We will offer flu shots daily, with no appointment needed. Customers can also go online to order a refill for their prescription and then come to the store or go through the drive-thru to pick it up. Prescriptions can also be transferred to or from our store in cooperation with any other Walgreens store in the country," Bischoff explained. "The technology is very advanced, and we are excited to help people and take care of them the best we can."

The store also features a photo lab that can produce prints in an hour or less. Poster size prints, calendars, greeting cards, enlargements, and passport photos can all be handled through the photo lab. Orders can also be placed online and prints can be picked up at the store at customers' convenience.

The store also offers a wide range of products from grocery items and cleaning supplies to cosmetics and toiletries.

"We're excited to be in Clintonville," Bischoff said. "The reaction has been very positive, and it's always nice to hear and see that we're welcome here. We're looking forward to meeting people and taking care of as many as we can. It's going to be fun!"

City officials and project developers are also happy to see the business opening.

"We have had a fantastic experience in planning, designing and building this store. If it wasn't for (City Administrator) Lisa Kuss, the store wouldn't be here. She worked with us and the Department of Transportation to make Madison Avenue a through street," said Mark Lake, a principal with Midland Commercial Development Corp., a company that works with Walgreens to develop properties. "I think everyone's happy. It's a beautiful store that Clintonville can be proud of."

"After many years of working on the Walgreens project I am thrilled to see the project complete and open to the public," said City Administrator Lisa Kuss. "Mark Lake was a pleasure to work with. The additional tax base and jobs are a great addition to the community. Welcome to Walgreens."

"It is so worth all of the behind the scene work in making the Walgreens project come full cycle. We are grateful that Walgreens wanted to build in Clintonville and that all parties involved working together made it happen," said Clintonville Mayor Judith I. Magee. "On behalf of the City Council we thank Walgreens for choosing Clintonville. This is wonderful for our business community."

Walgreens will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day, holidays included. The pharmacy will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The store can be reached by phone at 715-823-4238. A touchtone menu will help direct calls to the proper department.

  1. I thought Walgreens was supposed to be open 24/7? Where am I going to get Gummie Bears and Red Bull at 11:00 on a Sunday night? Time to start a CVS petition I guess.

  2. Will they offer the Dealchicken? Do they accept SNAP cards?
