Curling on display
The windows of the Clintonville Area Historical Society office at 36 South Main Street feature an exhibit of memorabilia of the Clintonville Curling Club. Founded in 1948, the Club continues today as an important part of winter activities in the community.
Sisters Kay Kuester Doran and Mary-Beth Kuester set up the display which includes many curling artifacts that belonged to their father Joe Kuester, who was charter member of the Club. Included are his curling jacket, tam, an early broom and numerous bonspiel pins and awards. A bonspiel is a curling tournament.
Joan Paulson, a former high school teacher provided a display of materials from the high school curling club.
The Club began after Clintonville residents participated in curling at Waupaca and were encouraged to start their own club. Other charter members included Joe Dahm, and "Smokey" Miester. For more information on the Clintonville Curling Club see its website:http://clintonvillecurlingclub.com/history.html.
