FFA wins award
The Weyauwega-Fremont FFA chapter was selected as a winner of the 3-star National FFA Chapter Award program during the FFA National Convention.
The convention was held Oct. 18-21 in Indianapolis, and the 3-star Award is the highest level of accomplishment for a chapter. It recognizes chapters that have a detailed Program of Activities.
The activities provide opportunities for members to succeed in an area of student, chapter or community development.
Participating in the convention were Mark Buchholtz, Brandon Loehrke, Lucas Erdmann, Dustin Hanes, Jane Beyer, KaLyn Schwarts, Jamie Seward, Brooke Larsen, Sadie Kaminski, Liz Hillskotter, Georgia Radtke and Emily Togstad.
Their trip to Indiana included several stops along the way.
They toured Sprecher Brewery, where they learned the history of the business and how important Root Beer is to their profits.
The next tour was at the Fair Oaks Dairy, which has 27,000 head ofdairy cattle. The group was able to see the birth of a calf. They also went through a maze.
In addition, the group toured an elk farm and a goldfish hatchery.
During the convention, they attended award sessions, saw performers and toured a career show sponsored by agriculture businesses.
