Friends of the Library to hold Annual Meeting
The Clintonville Friends of the Library will hold their Annual Meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 in the Clintonville Public Library's meeting room. The meeting is open to the public. Guest speaker Tim Sweet will address the audience.
Sweet has been involved with the Friends of Rock Island-a non-profit group formed in 1994 and has been partnered with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The result of the partnership has been the restoration of the Pottawatomie Lighthouse in Door County's Rock Island State Park. The lighthouse was opened to the public in 2004. It is staffed by volunteers who spend a week at a time living in the lighthouse while providing guided tours to visitors.
In 2007, the Friends of Plum and Pilot Islands became a 501 (c) 3 organization partnered with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This Friends group is working to restore the historic maritime structures found on Plum and Pilot Islands located in the waters of Lake Michigan just off the tip of the Door Peninsula. The islands are part of the Green Bay National Wildlife Refuge.
