Groundwater Workshop is July 27
A Groundwater Workshop will be held Friday, July 27, at Crystal Falls Banquet Facility.
The workshop will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon, and is put on by the East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission. Attendees will learn about aquifers, recharge, water table, flow paths, and hydrology.
A schedule of the day's events is as follows:
• 8 a.m.: Registration and coffee
• 8:30 a.m.: Welcome and opening remarks from Eric Fowle, Executive Director
• 8:40 a.m.: Session 1: A groundwater recharge model for Calumet, Outagamie and Winnebago Counties, by Dr. David Hart, Hydrogeologist
• 9:15 a.m.: Session 2: Implementing groundwater recharge at the community level, by Mike Rupiper, environmental engineer
• 10 a.m.: Break
• 10:15 a.m.: Session 3: Managing groundwater in Karst landscapes, by Bill Hafs, director of the Brown County Land Conservation Department
• 11:05 a.m.: Session 4: Groundwater-managing for the future, by Mary Ellen Vollbrecht, Section Chief, Division of Water/Drinking water and groundwater, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
• 11:45 a.m.: Closing remarks
• 12 p.m.: Adjourn
