High school choirs to present concerts
The Waupaca High School Vocal Music Department will present a "Gift of Holiday Music" at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18 and again at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, in the school's Performing Arts Center.
The concerts are identical in nature and are presented twice to accommodate large audiences.
Admission is free, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The doors will open one-half hour prior to the start of each concert.
A prelude of seasonal music by the Trinity Hand bell Choir - under the direction of Shana Rogney - will begin 30 minutes before the start of the concerts.
Accompanists for the high school ensembles include Mike Barden, Maryanne Munk and Wanda Eikenbary.
This year's vocal concert will feature more than 230 students, comprising one third of the student body.
Six different choral groups will perform, under the direction of Kira Morrissey and Dan Wolfgram.
The Concert Choir, Mixed Chorus, Treble Clef Chorus, Madrigal Singers, Die Meistersingers and Women's Concert Chorale will perform.
In addition to this year's concert, the choirs will be selling stage-decorating poinsettias as a means of a fundraiser.
Patrons may pick out their own poinsettia to take home after the concert. The cost of each plant is $10.
