Holocaust survivor to visit bilingual students
NEW LONDON - Lori Menning, Bilingual Teacher for New London High School, received a fellowship to participate in the Summer Seminar on Holocaust Education in New York City in July. Along with 24 other secondary teachers and college instructors from throughout the country, Menning participated in this two week intensive study. During this time, she learned of the national "Adopt A Survivor Program" which her students are now participating in by writing the biography of Mr. Henry Golde, a Holocaust survivor. Golde lives in Appleton and has written a book about his Holocaust experiences. He is coming to the high school soon to share his story and meet with the students for the first in a series of meetings throughout the year.
Look for student writing about Mr.Golde in an upcoming issue of the County Post East.
