Duane Braun has accepted the position as interim district administrator for Iola-Scandinavia.
"I'm looking forward to working with the board and leading the district in a direction of quality education for all our kids," said Braun.
He spent the past 11 years in the Manawa School District, including two of those years as the district administrator.
Braun says he is ready for something new.
"I have seen all my children graduate from Manawa, and I am ready for a change in my life. I feel now is a good time to make that happen," he said.
Braun not only replaces former I-S District Administrator Joe Price, who took a position as CESA 3 administrator, but will also fill the vacancy left by Buildings and Grounds Director Larry Fechter.
"I have a major in industrial arts," Braun said. "I worked many summers in construction and feel very comfortable handling both positions. I will make sure that I am up to speed on everything and that everything gets done in a timely matter."
Braun is excited about joining the I-S district and the new challenges he will face.
"I know that everything is not always going to be roses, but I want people to know that I am very approachable," he said. "I want to hear their concerns, and I want to make sure that their children receive that best education possible."
Braun's interim administrator contract runs through June 30, 2013.
Once the district begins its search to fill the full-time position, Braun said, "I hope that people feel that I am doing a good enough job, and they want me to remain in the position."
