Learning Cottage earns four-star rating

The Learning Cottage Day Care and Preschool a received a four-star rating from the state of Wisconsin's YoungStar Child Care Rating Program.

The high rating recognizes the organization's elevated levels of quality standards and also sets the Learning Cottage apart from other facilities in the Waupaca County area as the only provider to achieve this high standard of excellence in childcare.

To earn the honor, Learning Cottage staff members underwent an intensive review process by a Wisconsin Early Childhood Association rating observer in four key rating categories.

Those categories include education qualifications and training, learning environment and curriculum, professional and business practices, and child health and well-being practices.

The Learning Cottage Day Care & Preschool is owned and operated by Deb Hitchcock.

"Since I took over the center in 2007, my staff and I have placed a strong emphasis on the importance of education in all age levels of care from infants to preschoolers to school age children," Hitchcock said. "We have all worked very hard to become a high quality child care center and we are proud to have achieved our goal of earning a four-star rating from the state."

Located at 303 S. Western Ave. in Waupaca, the Learning Cottage specializes in providing educational day care and preschool services and learning experiences for infants and children through age 12.

The center is open from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
