Library exhibit features local airport
Learn about Waupaca Municipal Airport - Brunner Field and put your hands on the controls during an upcoming exhibit.
The Waupaca Area Public Library's exhibit room will feature the local airport and the activities, planes and people that keep it busy. The exhibit will run Monday, Dec. 19 through Saturday, Jan. 28 and will be open during library hours.
It will include a flight simulator for visitors to try, other interactive units, aviation art by Sam Lyons and historial memorabilia from World War II flyers.
Three programs are planned for adults, families and children.
During the week that students are off from school, there will be a workshop on paper airplanes for parents and children. It will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29.
At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, see the award-winning Chickasaw Nation feature length film "Pearl" about Pearl Center Scott, who learned to fly in the late 1920s at age 13 and became the youngest licensed pilot in the United States at age 14.
The final program will feature Peter Andersen, the manager of Waupaca's airport.
He will talk about the airport and about flying general aircraft planes during that session, which will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19.
