Library to hold winter programs
Fun, games and a healthy heart are on the schedule at the Scandinavia Public Library.
As in past years, the library is offering a game and crafts event over the school winter break.
From 2-5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 26, Tuesday, Dec. 27, and Thursday, Dec. 29, friends and families of all ages are invited to come in and play a variety of tabletop games including Munchkin, Settlers of Catan, Apples to Apples, Appletters, and more.
The library's new Wii will also be available for play. A sign-up sheet for the Wii will be available during the event.
Many crafts will also be available for patrons, including an opportunity to create thank you notes, spool-knit beaded bracelets, and colorful window decorations.
All games and craft materials will be provided by the library during this free event.
In January, the Scandinavia Public Library will begin a five-week series of informative programs on "The Healthy Heart." These programs will take place from noon to 1 p.m. every Tuesday morning throughout January, beginning on Jan. 3, 2012.
Topics will range from heart healthy food options and exercise, to stress reduction. Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite less-than-healthy recipes to be reviewed and receive some heart healthy alterations for them.
These meetings are being offered free to the public. No registration is required, although it will be appreciated so that the library may prepare an adequate amount of healthy snack samples for the group. Interested individuals may register in person at the Scandinavia Public Library, by calling the library at 715-467-4636, or emailing tosca@mail.owls.lib.wi.us.
Individuals who attend all five Healthy Heart programs will be provided with a free hardcover cookbook. Participants may choose between either "The Betty Crocker Heart Health Edition" or "Taste of Home Healthy Cooking."
Lastly, the Scandinavia Public Library will be closed Friday, Dec. 23, and Friday, Dec. 30.
