Miller named Director of Nursing
Joy Miller was hired as the Director of Nursing in July at the Manawa Community Nursing Center.
She received her associate degree in nursing from Fox Valley Technical College in 1979. She then worked at numerous hospitals in the Fox River Valley area. Miller received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Marian College in Fond du Lac in 1991.
Prior to joining Manawa Community Nursing Center, Miller was Director of Nursing at the All About Life Nursing Home in Fond du Lac. She has also been the director of staff development in a long-term care facility and was a director of nursing for a Hospice program in Green Bay. She has also been the Assistant Director of Nursing and the Director of Quality and Training for the Omro Care Center. In addition, she has been a manager/coordinator for Woodside Lutheran Home in Green Bay.
During her time working in a hospital setting she began as a staff nurse and continued on to supervision in hospital administration. She has also taught classes in nursing in a vocational setting in Green Bay.
Miller lives in Appleton and enjoys entertaining, gardening and cooking. She is an avid golfer and enjoys playing tennis. She also enjoys the outdoors, biking, walking and loves to travel.
She said she is enjoying the small, rural community environment and looks forward to becoming active in the community and meeting community leaders and families. She said the staff at Manawa Community Nursing Center has been helpful in welcoming her to the facility.
