Micaela Poroch, a student at Waupaca Middle School, has won $25 for the local Peace Poster Contest, sponsored by the Waupaca Lioness Club.
Alison Schwaegler placed second, winning $15.00 in the competition.
Each year, art teacher Dort DeWild encourages students, ages 11 through 13, to participate in the contest. More than 40 students entered the competition with their original poster creations of what the theme "Children Know Peace" meant to them.
Poroch's poster will be submitted to compete at the district level, and if successful, will make its way through the regional and international rounds. One grand prize winner and 23 merit award winners will be selected.
Waupaca Lioness Club President Jacci Koch said she was proud of the creativity of local students and encourages them to continue.
