Preschool programs at library
Sturm Memorial Library in Manawa will begin the winter session of its preschool programs on Thursday, Jan. 5. The programs will run every Thursday in January and February.
Preschool story hour starts at 10:30 a.m. and is targeted for youth ages 2-5. Story Hour includes stories, music, games, physical activities and special events. Story Hour is immediately followed by Babygarten at 11 a.m. This program is geared for infants and toddlers ages 0-2 and their parent or caregiver. Babygarten includes simple songs, rhymes, a simple story and play time. There is no registration required for either one.
The preschool programs at Sturm Memorial Library are geared to help parents prepare their children to learn how to read. Both programs feature activities that help preschoolers attain the key skills they need in order to begin to learn to read once they start school. While the programs are fun for the participants, each activity is targeting a necessary skill. Reading to children, letting them play and hold books, singing, using musical instruments and interacting with them in a loving way all contribute to a successful reading life later on.
