Preschool programs start at library
Preschool story hour and Babygarten begin at Sturm Memorial Library on Thursday, Oct. 6.
The Library's preschool story hour will start at 10:30 a.m., followed by Babygarten at 11 a.m. The two programs will run back-to-back each Thursday in October and November.
Preschool story hour is for youngsters ages 2-5 and includes stories, rhymes, music and games to get preschoolers excited about books and reading. This year's kick-off story hour session also coincides with the Just Start's Read for the Record event so families attending will be part of a national read aloud that will be taking place in schools and libraries all across the country.
Babygarten gives caregivers concrete examples of songs, rhymes, stories and play ideas that will encourage pre-literacy skills in the very young. It prepares babies and toddlers, ages 0-2, for listening, opening books and turning pages, learning word sounds and expanding vocabulary. It is also a great way for parents to connect with others.
Families are welcome to attend both programs if they have children in each age group.
