Preschool screenings to be held
Early educators in the Weyauwega-Fremont School District will hold preschool screenings this month.
The Child Development Days screening will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30 and from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the district's Main Street Building, 310 E. Ann St. in Weyauwega.
The screening will be held in the gym of the old middle school building and is one of the district's Child Find efforts to provide improved educational opportunities for young children.
The screening is open to all children, ages 2 to 4 1/2, who have not participated in past preschool screenings sponsored by the district.
This screening is essential for enrollment in W-F's Four-Year Old Kindergarten Program.
Children will participate in a play-based screening.
The developmental areas of social, self help, fine motor, gross motor and language will be observed by the school district's early educators.
Parents will have an opportunity to learn about community agencies including day cares, preschools, Head Start, libraries, police and fire departments and the public health department.
There will also be hearing, vision and health screenings by a public health nurse, optometrist and school nurse respectively.
Parents can register their child for an appointment by calling Jill Hughes at 920-867-8821 by Jan. 27.
Two questionnaires about the child's growth and development will then be sent to them. The questionnaires may be completed at home and brought to the screening appointment.
