Ruby's Pantry still fighting to stay open
The number of families and singles receiving food from Ruby's Pantry went up Dec. 3, from November's count. This is especially important to the food site located at Jubilee Gospel Church, off Hwy. 96.
"We can still accommodate more families and are actively searching for those in need of support," says Justis Zietlow, coordinator for the program. "We need to keep our numbers up to keep the food site open and available to area residents," she explains. The pantry is in peril of being shut down if the numbers don't increase.
"It takes a $15 donation each month to receive food for your family or friends," said Zietlow. "Of that $15, most of it goes back to other community outreach programs, and the remainder pays for gas to deliver the items from the Ruby's Pantry hub in Minnesota."
"Spread the word," says Zietlow. "Help us stay in operation."
Jubilee Gospel Church volunteers also are accepting donations of winter accessories for children in need who attend Readfield Elementary School, adjacent to the church.
Donations of handmade, purchased or gently used gloves, hats, scarves, mittens, boots, snow pants, socks, sweatpants and other warm items will be given to the school to distribute to the children.
Donations can be dropped off during Ruby's Pantry distribution dates, at Sunday services or by contacting Justis at 715-754-5709 or rubyspantryrf@frontier.com.
