Two members of the Waupaca Lions Club were recognized at the District 27-B2 convention held Nov. 4-5 in Green Bay.
Lion Dick Helback and Lion Dennis Daniels both received the Presidential Appreciation Award.
District Governor Sue Doell described Helbach as a" rock solid Lion who serves quietly, without fanfare. He is a soft spoken kind of guy; but gets the work done."
Helbach has been a member of the Waupaca Lions since 1976. He has served club president, zone chair, region chair, district governor and as a member of the board of directors for the Wisconsin Eye Bank.
"Near or far this Lion shows his support of Lions clubs throughout the district, our state and our world," Doell said.
Daniels is an active member of the Waupaca Lions and the Waupaca Lioness clubs.
He joined the Lions in 1986 and served as region chair for about four years and as zone chair for five years. In his words, he has served as club secretary "forever," and as Lion/Lioness district liaison noted, for "many, many years."
"Lion Dennie Daniels is another servant leader who deserves to be recognized for his service," Doell said.
"I was shocked," Daniels said. "I didn't know who Sue (Doell) was talking about until she said 'Affiliate District Lioness Liaison.' Then I realized it was me."
