WHS students attend choral festival
Five Waupaca High School vocal music students traveled to Decorah, Iowa to participate in the Dorian Choral/Vocal Music Festival.
Sarah Bauer, Ashley Davis, Claire Kiessling, Stanford Mitchell and Danny O'Brien were accompanied by WHS vocal music directors Dan Wolfgram and Kira Morrissey, on the Jan. 7 to 10 trip.
The choral festival was held at Luther College.
Overall, this year's festival chorus numbered in excess of 1,300 singers, making it the world's largest select honor choir.
Six different states and 353 schools were represented at the two-day festival.
"This is a rare opportunity to sing in a choir of this magnitude. We wish we could take more students. It is an experience I am sure
that they will never forget," Wolfgram said.
While at Luther College, the students spent their time in extensive rehearsals, preparing for the final concert.
In addition, they had opportunities to sing solos for judges, as well as to listen to several concerts from choirs around the country.
The Luther Choral Department also showcased many of its own ensembles.
