WMS students to perform concerts
Waupaca Middle School students will perform several concerts celebrating the holidays.
The seventh- and eighth-grade mixed choirs will take to the stage at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12. Under the direction of Laurel Leder and accompanied by Barb Kirk and Wanda Eikenbary, the seventh-graders will perform such songs as "Christmas in Three Minutes," "English Song of Joy" and "Football Frenzy."
Eighth-grade songs will include "Baby It's Cold Outside," "African Noel," "Coram Deo" and PDQ Bach's "Good King Kong Looked Out."
The combined choirs will sing "Carol of the Christmas Bells" and "Silent Night."
Joining the mixed choirs for the performance will be Fizz, singing "Yultide Rhythm," "The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy" and "Big Band Santa." The boy's group, Epic, and the girls in the Brioso Chorale will also sing
The seventh- and eighth-grade bands will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15.
Greg Biba will conduct the seventh-grade band in "Lightning," "March of the Cardinals," "Jump Start," and other tunes.
The eighth-grade band, directed by Shana Rogney, will perform "Jingle Bells and Jungle Drums," "A Christmas Scrapbook," "Hark! The Herald Tubas Sing," and other tunes. To end the concert, the combined bands will present "White Christmas" by Irving Berlin.
Music students will also ring bells for the Salvation Army at Piggly Wiggly in Waupaca from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, then perform a Christmas recital at the Chez Marche Cafe in downtown Waupaca from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
All the performances are free and open to the public. Donations are appreciated on Saturday, Dec. 10 to support the Salvation Army in the morning and the Middle School Band Boosters in the afternoon.
