Battery, choking charges filed
Allen C. Sovereign, 26, New London, was charged with battery, strangulation and disorderly conduct.
On March 10, New London Police Officer Ben Schmidt was dispatched to the New London Ale House in response to a fight between two men in the parking lot.
When Schmidt arrived he found a man lying on the ground, with blood on his face, a swollen ear and jaw and a large scrape on the back of his head.
The man told Schmidt that Sovereign had been asked to leave the bar after arguing with him. He said as he and his girlfriend were getting into their vehicle, Sovereign attacked him, punching him in the face and choking him with a guillotine hold until he lost consciousness.
