Child abuse charges filed
Hurley C. Jackson, 29, Milwaukee, was charged with felony child abuse and misdemeanor battery for allegedly hitting a 7-year-old child with a belt.
According to the criminal complaint, the child showed Iola Police Chief Robert Prahl black-and-blue bruises on his leg and arm.
The mother told police that Jackson had punched her in the face on Oct. 4 and used a belt on the child on Sept. 30.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest. Jackson faces up to 12 years in prison if convicted of felony child abuse.
