At 6:40 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, Marion Police Officer Eric Krause was on County S when he saw apickup truck driving near the curbline with its left turn signal on. The license plate was also expired.

Although Krause activated his emergency lights and siren, the vehicle continued driving,.

The pickup truck reportedly stopped at the intersection with U.S. Highway 45, but when Krause left his squad car to speak with the driver, the truck took off.

Eventually, the truck stopped on Graetz Road in the town of Larrabee. Krause used his car's public address system to order the driver to exit the vehicle.

According to the criminal complaint, Pingel pulled away as the officer attempted to place him in handcuffs. As the two struggled, Krause escorted Pingel to the ground.

Pingel was taken into custody and later released on a $2,000 bond on the condition that he not consume alcohol.
