Clintonville teen charged with felony bail jumping
Dalton D. Hintz, 17, Clintonville, was charged with two counts each of felony bail jumping and misdemeanor bail jumping.
Shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, Clintonville police received a report of a suspicious person, wearing a ski mask, prowling around Fourth Street and headed toward Klein Chevrolet's new car lot.
Officer Craig Bevernitz was driving along Fourth Street, south of Klein's, when he saw a male in a black mask with a set of bicycle handlebars in his hand. The suspect was among the cars in Klein's lot. As Bevernitz approached the lot, the suspect took off running, according to the criminal complaint.
Sgt. Robert McMillan approached Klein's from the north, along Main Street. When he arrived at the scene, the suspect ran back toward the lot.
A citizen living on Fourth Street, who had called police about a suspicious person in the neighborhood, brought the suspect to the ground as he ran by the home.
The suspect initially would not identify himself, according to the criminal complaint. Police found a letter addressed to Dalton Hintz from Lincoln Hills Correctional Institute.
Hinz was charged Sept. 8 in Monroe County with taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, criminal damage to property and obstructing an officer. He was released on a $2,000 signature bond that stipulated a 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew.
Shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, New London police arrested Hintz again for violating his curfew. He had a 0.13 blood-alcohol level, according to the criminal complaint.
