Crash leads to 5th OWI charge
Scott D. Wittkopf, 33, Fond du Lac, was charged with a fifth offense of operating while intoxicated.
At about 5 p.m. on Oct. 29, Clintonville police, fire and ambulance, along with Waupaca County Sheriff's Deputy Mark Goerlinger, were dispatched to a crash on U.S. Highway 45 near County Road C in Larrabee.
Goerlinger observed a Ford Explorer, which had been towing a trailer with a snowmobile and some propane tanks, overturned on the highway. Items were strewn across the road, and the highway had to be closed. The driver, identified as Wittkopf, was found injured in the ditch.
Wittkopf was transported to Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah, where a blood sample was taken. The state crime lab reported that Wittkopf had a 0.263 blood-alcohol level.
