Fight leads to criminal charges
A fight in the town of St. Lawrence resulted in two men being charged in Waupaca County Circuit Court.
Jeremy P. Rivard, 36, and Joseph C. Chambers, 28, have both been charged with disorderly conduct. Chambers also faces a felony charge of strangulation.
On the evening of Jan. 8, Waupaca County Sheriff's Deputy Jon Loken responded to a report of a fight at a home on the N6700 block of County Road E. When he arrived, Loken found three men and a woman standing in the front yard.
One of the men, Rivard, had a bloody mouth, blood on the left side of his head and a scratch on the left side of his neck.
Chambers had an abrasion under his right eye and redness in front of his neck.
According to the criminal complaint, Rivard said he, the woman and Joseph C. Chambers, 28, lived together in the house. He said Chambers had not been paying his rent.
Rivard told police that he became angry at Chambers and demanded that he pay his rent or get out of the house. As their conversation became more heated, Rivard and Chambers began fighting. Rivard allegedly threw several punches at Chambers, and Chambers allegedly threw Rivard down to the ground and choked him.
