Kotovich charged with 6th OWI
John R. Kotovich, 62, Waupaca, was charged with a sixth offense of operating while intoxicated.
On Nov. 30, Waupaca County Sheriff's Deputy Chad Repinski was dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on Spencer Lake Road in the town of Dayton.
At the scene, Repinski found that a sports utility vehicle had collided with a pickup truck towing a trailer.
The driver of the truck, Jamie P. Fiederwicz, said he had been westbound on Spencer Lake Road when an oncoming vehicle crossed over into his lane. Although he swerved to avoid hitting the other vehicle, it made contact with his trailer.
According to the criminal complaint, Kotovich accused the other driver of being in the wrong lane.
Repinski suspected Kotovich had been drinking. Kotovich reportedly had a 0.164 blood-alcohol level, according to a preliminary breathalyzer test.
Kotovich was previously convicted of drinking and driving offenses in January 1994, August 1995, June 1999, June 2000 and January 2002.
