Mahsem charged with bail jumping
Jesse M. Mahsem, 26, Fond du Lac, was charged Nov. 29 with felony bail jumping.
On Aug. 29, Mahsem appeared in Waupaca County Circuit Court on a felony charge of armed robbery and misdemeanor charges of theft, carrying a gun into an establishment that sells alcohol and pointing a firearm at a person.
He had been arrested a short time after he threatened a grocery clerk at Festival Foods in New London with an air-gun and took almost $300 in cash.
Judge Philip Kirk initially set a $5,000 cash bond as a condition of his release, and Mahsem remained in the county jail.
On Nov. 1, Mahsem appeared before Judge Raymond Huber. He pleaded no contest to an amended charge of robbery; "armed" was deleted from the charge.
The charges of carrying a gun into an establishment where alcohol was sold and pointing a firearm at a person were dismissed at the recommendation of Assistant District Attorney Vicki Clussmann. The theft charge was dismissed but read into the court record.
Huber ordered that Mahsem's bond be amended to a $5,000 signature bond, cosigned by his mother. As a condition of his release, Mahsem was required to live with his mother under virtual house arrest.
Huber scheduled Mahsem's sentencing for Dec. 15.
On Monday, Nov. 28, New London Police Officer Brady Peterson saw Mahsem pull into the parking lot.
Mahsem faces up to six years in prison if convicted of felony bail jumping.
