McNaught charged with forgery

April 18, 2012 | 0 comments

Richard A. McNaught, 47, currently residing at the Red Granite Correctional Institute, was charged April 12 with five counts of forgery uttering.

McNaught is accused of passing fraudulent checks at the New London Piggly Wiggly store in February 2011.

According to the criminal complaint, McNaught wrote five checks on two separate accounts for purchases totaling nearly $350. Both accounts had been closed at the time the checks were written. One of the accounts belonged to a man who had died in November 2010. The driver's license numbers written on the checks were invalid. Much of the money from the checks was used to purchase liquor.

In Outagamie County in 2009, McNaught was convicted of felony drunken driving and sentenced to one year in jail. That same year, he was also convicted of bail jumping and placed on four years of probation.

In October 2011, McNaught's probation was revoked, and he was sentenced to two years in prison and three years of extended supervision.
