New London teen returns to court
Eric D. Doughty, 17, New London, was charged Oct. 31 with felony bail jumping, misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct.
At about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, deputies Bryan Strobusch and Kevin Studzinski were dispatched to a Wolf River campground in response to a report that three youths were breaking into the fishing rafts.
When the officers arrived, they found the glass broken out of two doors of a raft, as well as blood on the walls. Studzinski also found Doughty on the raft, bleeding from his hand.
According to the criminal complaint, Doughty was "loud, boisterous and extremely disrespectful." The officers reported that he appeared intoxicated.
Doughty reportedly told police that he had been involved in a fight because other males at the party had been making comments about the girls he was with.
A 16-year-old girl was also on the raft. Police said she could not complete a sentence without using an obscenity.
A 20-year-old woman was also found on the raft, hiding under a blanket. She told police that Doughty busted out the window when he became angry.
Doughty appeared in court on Sept. 28 and was charged with burglary, criminal damage and theft. He was released from custody on a $2,000 signature bond.
On Oct. 11, he was charged with taking a vehicle without the owner's consent and released on a $2,000 signature bond.
