Ogdensburg man charged with battery
Jason A. Stickles, 34, Ogdensburg, was charged with misdemeanor battery, disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and operating a vehicle without the owner's consent.
According to the criminal complaint, Stickles became involved in an altercation with a 20-year-old woman regarding her van while the two were at a bonfire party on Knutson Lake Road in the town of St. Lawrence on the night of Saturday, Oct. 22.
The battery in the van had died and the two allegedly argued over whether to jump the van and move it from the back yard or leave it there. The woman did not want anyone to drive her van because all the adults had been drinking. Stickles wanted to move the van and allegedly became angry about the matter.
During the course of the evening, the party moved from the backyard to the basement. The argument became more heated, and the woman ran up the stairs and closed the basement door. Stickles allegedly ran after her and began pounding on the door, which she was holding closed, the complaint says. Stickles allegedly punched a hole in the door.
Stickles then made his way to her van, pulled a stereo speaker out of the back, placed it in the back of a pickup truck that belonged to a friend and drove away, according to the criminal complaint. Police later found the truck parked near Jones Publishing and arrested Stickles.
