Ogdensburg man charged with battery
David R. Dain, 62, Ogdensburg, was charged with substantial battery and disorderly conduct.
At about 2 a.m. on March 1, Deputy Dan Lewinski was dispatched to Shaunie B's in Ogdensburg. There he met with a 32-year-old woman who said Dain had punched her in the face, knocking loose two of her lower front teeth.
According to the criminal complaint, Dain and the woman began arguing in the bar. The woman left the bar and Dain followed her.
Dain allegedly punched the woman in the face several times, she fell to the ground and he continued hitting her. The bartender tried unsuccessfully to break up the fight.
After speaking to the bartender and the injured woman, Lewinski went to Dain's home to question him about the incident.
Dain reportedly told Lewinski that the woman had words with his girlfriend and hit him in the face while they were in the bar. He said his girlfriend left the bar and when he looked outside, he saw four or five women pushing her around. He then went to protect his girlfriend.
Dain said the injured woman hit him in the face, knocking off his glasses. He became disoriented because he could not see and was fighting to protect himself and his girlfriend.
