Panus faces more charges
Justin E. Panus, 24, New London, returned to court Thursday, Oct. 6, to face felony bail jumping charges in the third criminal case filed against him in Waupaca County this year.
Panus also faces multiple counts of burglary and theft in Outagamie County.
In May, Panus was arrested and charged with false imprisonment, reckless endangerment and kidnapping.
Panus' ex-girlfriend told police in May that she agreed to meet him on the night of May 12 at Franklin Park in New London. After she entered his car, Panus took off and began driving at speeds up to 90 mph and swerving into the oncoming lane of traffic, according to the criminal complaint. Panus then took her to his home, which was in Clintonville at the time, and allegedly refused to allow her to leave.
Panus was released from custody on a $2,000 signature bond, with the condition that he have no contact with her.
On Aug. 9, the woman contacted police and reported receiving suspicious messages over her Facebook page from someone claiming to be "Kyle Duran." The messages inquired about her ex-boyfriend and indicated some knowledge of the case.
Police were unable to find any record of a Kyle Duran in Wisconsin. However, they traced the IP address to a mobile home on U.S. Highway 45 in the town of Bear Creek, where Panus had moved.
Panus was released from custody on Oct. 6 on a $3,000 signature bond.
