Readfield man charged with burglary, theft

Dec. 7, 2011 | 4 comments

Jesse J. Wohlrabe, 25, Readfield, was charged with burglary, theft, criminal damage to property, possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia.

At 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, Waupaca County Sheriff's Deputy Nick Traeger was dispatched to a home on County Trunk W in rural Fremont. The homeowner said he had gone out at 7:30 a.m. and when he returned at 2:30 p.m., he discovered that a large jug of change and a bottle of morphine pills had been stolen.

Entry to the home was apparently made possible by jimmying a door jam with a screwdriver.

The homeowner told Traeger that he suspected Wohlrabe, because Wohlrabe had stopped by his house late the night before and asked if he could hunt on his land. That morning, Wohlrabe allegedly called the man's cellphone and asked if he would be home. The man said he was out of town at the time Wohlrabe called him.

According to the criminal complaint, a security camera at a local bank recorded Wohlrabe bringing in a jug identical to the one that was stolen and then exchanging the coins for currency.

Traeger arrested Wohlrabe the following day after seeing him at a New London Kwik Trip store. Traeger reported finding a screwdriver, pry bar and an ax in the back of Wohlrabe's truck, as well as a pot pipe.

Wohlrabe faces up to 12 years in prison if convicted of burglary.

  2. I suspect he will be convicted of theft, and the rest of the charges will be dismissed on a motion by the DA. He'll be sentenced to 1 year, which will be suspended.

  3. The court system needs to stop giving this punk a slap on the wrist. He was out on signature bond only to be seen robbing another house-mine!!. Where is he now?-gone somewhere. He needs to be put where he belongs-in prison for a long, long time.

  4. You have got to be kidding. First of all he's no longer in custody.
His "cash bond" was changed again to a “signature bond” on the 3rd and he was again RELEASED.
Can someone help me understand how someone can get arrested for burglary,
Get out on a $3000 signature bond only to commit another burglary while out on bond,
Get re-arrested, and then eventually get out on a LOWER signature bond? What the hell?
If he keeps offending will his bond get even lower? What about the bond his "valuable"
Signature already signed for? Will it ever be collected?
This is crazy. Time to think about moving.
