Stolen sewer grates recovered
Waupaca police began receiving calls regarding stolen sewer grates on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
At least a dozen of the metal grates that cover storm sewer openings were taken.
The thefts occurred from as far east in Waupaca as Industrial Drive and in residential areas on the city's west side.
According to Detective Sgt. Brian Hoelzel of the Waupaca Police Department, all of the missing grates were recovered from a local scrap metal yard. However, some of them were damaged and had to be replaced.
A suspect has been questioned and charges are pending.

And the scrap yard's owner was charged with receiving stolen property?

Typically it's the scrap yards that call the police.
