Teen charged with sex crime
Shane D. Schoepke, 17, Kaukauna, was charged in Waupaca County Circuit Court with felony sexual assault of a child.
Shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, New London police found Schoepke and a 13-year-old girl at Abraham Park. The two were taken into custody for violating the city's curfew and for being in the park after public hours.
The girl told police that she had sex with Schoepke in a stall in the park's restroom.
Schoepke faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted of sexual assault of a child.
