Waupaca couple charged with child abuse
Theodore Robbins, 39, and Amy Robbins, 36, of Waupaca, were charged with two counts each of felony child abuse and misdemeanor battery, and one count each of disorderly conduct.
On Sunday, Oct. 23, Waupaca Police Officer Diana Flatoff was dispatched to an apartment on Stone Ridge Road. A woman had called to report that a girl came to her apartment and said that the Robbins were hitting her and her sister.
When Flatoff arrived, she found the two girls crying. They were in their early teens and accused Theodore Robbins of throwing one of the girls onto her bed and holding her down. During the struggle, an earring had been ripped out of the girl's ear and it was bleeding. The girl also had a bleeding scab on her arm that she said was from an injury Amy Robbins caused a week earlier.
According to the criminal complaint, Amy Robbins said Theodore had been holding one of the girls down in order to control her. She reportedly told police she had slapped the other girl because she had been screaming and yelling.
Theodore told police the earring may have become caught in his T-shirt during his struggle to control her, the complaint says.
The Robbins face up to six years in prison if convicted of felony child abuse.
