Waupaca man charged with running over ex-girlfriend
Richard S. Tousey, 45, Waupaca, was charged Oct. 25 with second-degree reckless injury, negligent operation of a vehicle and disorderly conduct.
Shortly before 2 a.m. on May 6, Waupaca County Sheriff's Deputy Mike Richter was dispatched to a home on State Highway 22/110 in the town of Little Wolf. There he spoke to a woman who accused Tousey of running her over in his truck.
According to the criminal complaint, the woman is Tousey's ex-girlfriend. She walked home from Edge of Town Bar with a friend at around 12:30 a.m. At approximately 1 a.m., Tousey came to her home and was let in by the friend.
When Tousey began arguing with the woman, the friend told him to leave. Tousey allegedly picked up the woman's Pomeranian dog and carried it with him to his truck, which was parked in the driveway.
The woman followed Tousey outside, opened the driver's side door of his truck and told him to give the dog back.
Tousey allegedly drove away with the woman still hanging onto the door. At the end of the driveway, the woman fell down, fell under the truck and one of the tires rolled over her body, the complaint says.
The woman was taken by ambulance to the hospital where she was treated for multiple fractures of her pelvic bone.
Judge John Hoffmann dismissed without prejudice similar charges against Tousey in July. The earlier charges stemmed from the same incident and were refiled last month.
Tousey faces up to 12 years in prison if convicted of second-degree reckless injury.
