Waupaca man faces narcotics charge
Mark T. Gardner, 45, Waupaca, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernailia and disorderly conduct.
At about 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, Waupaca County 911 received a call that Gardner was scaring the customers at Schueller's Great Expectations.
Witnesses said Gardner "was talking about the devil and screaming on and off and also pointed at vehicles outside and yelling and screaming at the vehicles," according to the criminal complaint.
Waupaca County Sheriff's Deputy Nick Traeger and State Trooper Kendi Linjer responded. The restaurant's owner told the officers that Gardner had been at the bar since 8 a.m., but had not been drinking. He said Gardner had become louder and louder until he began screaming.
Traeger and Linjer took Gardner into custody. When they searched him, they found what appeared to be pot and a pot pipe. They also found medication that is normally used to control symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
When Traeger asked Gardner why he was having such a bad day, Gardner reportedly said he was cut off from God.
Gardner faces up to three years in prison if convicted of possession of narcotics.
