Wega man faces pot charges
Michael J. Oates, 31, Weyauwega, was charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On the morning of March 25, Wisconsin State Trooper Kendi Linjer was running stationary radar on U.S. Highway 10 in rural Weyauwega when she saw that the driver and front seat passenger of a passing vehicle were not wearing their seat belts. She pulled the vehicle over. During a pat-down search of the passenger, identified as Oates, Linjer found a glass pipe in his pocket.
The driver told Linjer that there was marijuana under the driver's seat and that it belonged to Oates.
Oates was convicted of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver in December 2001 in Outagamie County, where he served one year in jail.

The real questions are:
If the police car is sitting still, how fast would the police car have to travel and for how many miles, before it caught up with the car doing 65mph?
At $3.88 a gallon 4 miles per gallon, what is the cost of catching up with the driver?
At $10 per ticket (and $40 to process the ticket), how many additional taxpayer dollars are lost every time this drive-by-drag-race takes place?
What's the cost of a 65mph crash on a state highway in dollars? In innocent lives?
Who trains and supervises these state troopers?
