Military show leaves Iola

New sponsor for annual event

The annual Iola Vintage Military and Gun Show will not be held in Iola this summer.

After 25 years in Iola, the military show will no longer be locally sponsored.

Under the sponsorship of Alfa Heaven, the Central Wisconsin Military Show will be held on the Motorama Auto Museum Events Grounds in Aniwa on Aug. 12-13.

“Iola has been one of the unique shows that featured a variety of happening, including also a gun show, vehicle rides and live re-enactments,” stated PR Director Joe Opperman, “Ironically, that eclectic mix has become our most difficult challenge.”

Opperman said finding insurance for such a diverse event proved to be not only difficult, but in fact impractical for the show.

Last week, the staff and board of directors made the decision to discontinue the Military Show at the Iola Car Show Grounds.

These changes will have no effect on the Iola Car Show, which is gearing up for its 45th annual show July 6-8.
