Wine & Cheese Tasting to Benefit the Rural Health Initiative

The Rural Health Initiative is holding its 1st Annual Wine & Cheese Tasting for Waupaca County from 7-10 p.m. on Fri., April 27, at the Crystal Falls Banquet Hall in New London. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample 40 kinds of wine and 40 different types of cheeses while listening to entertainment provided by Uptown. Money raised at the event will go to the Rural Health Initiative, which brings basic health education and screening to the farm. The Rural Health Initiative expanded earlier this year in Outagamie and Waupaca counties after several successful years in Shawano County. In Shawano County, the program serves about 40 percent of the county’s total farm families. Registered nurse Shirley Yaeger visits Waupaca County farm families in their homes and offers basic health information and screenings. The visits last about 45 minutes and participants get their lab results that same day. Tickets for the Wine & Cheese Tasting are $25 each.
