Cystic Fibrosis 5K Run/Walk

The National Honor Society of New London High School will be sponsoring it’s 4th Cystic Fibrosis 5K Run/Walk on Saturday May 19th. Cystic Fibrosis is a disease that affects the lungs and pancreas of those who have it. It is a genetic disorder that occurs in 1 out of every 2500 births and is more common among Caucasians. People with this disorder have frequent infections because the lungs and pancreas produce thick and sticky mucus. Technology allows people to live longer today than ever before by helping them to cope with the disease. Donations have helped fund research for new and improved The event will take place on Saturday, May 19th. Registration and check-in will begin at 7:30 and end at 8:00. There is no cost to participate but your mission is to collect donations for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The foundation awards prizes starting at $100 dollars and going up from there. T-shirts are available for $8.00 if you register by May 10th. The route will proceed from the High School parking lot to Hatten Park, through Hatten Park and then back to the High School. There will be prizes awarded to the top three runners in each age bracket (male/female) as well as the three people who collect the most donations. There are currently forty National Honor Society Members participating in the planning and preparation of this event. They have already been involved in advertising, t-shirt design, writing letters to local businesses, and planning refreshments and prizes for the day of the event.
