Iola shuts out Amherst

Legion baseball team scores six runs in third inning

Iola opened its season June 17 by handing Amherst a 10-0 decision in a matchup of Central Wisconsin American Legion Baseball League teams at Taylor Field.

The game remained scoreless until Iola came up with six runs in the bottom of the third inning.

Amherst loaded the bases with two outs in the fourth, but shortstop Nate Korb snagged a line drive to end the scoring threat.

Iola added two runs in the fourth and fifth innings before the game was called due to the 10-run rule.

Winning pitcher Seth Korb held Amherst to two hits and finished with seven strikeouts.

Cam Gruenwald had three hits for Iola, while John Prahl and Kal Fischer added two each.
