Hortonville lands 15 All-FVA athletes

Top spring season  athletes recognized

Fifteen Hortonville High School students showcased strong athleticism this past spring season to receive All-Fox Valley Association (FVA) recognition.

Hortonville’s presence on the All-Conference list includes six regional runner-up softball players, four regional runner-up baseball players, three soccer players and two cousins who broke school records and competed at state track.

Softball
Lexy Campshure, junior, was a First Team All-FVA Honors selection. This past season Campshure tied for second in runs (31) and went second in RBIs (23) and triples (3). She recorded the third most hits (33), singles (23) and doubles (6). Campshure also hit a home run and had the third best batting average (.412).

Jordyn Brennan, junior, landed First Team All-FVA Honors. Brennan posted the highest batting average (.547) and recorded the most total bases (85), hits (47), runs (30), RBIs (30) and triples (9). Brennan tied for first in doubles (8) and had the second most singles (26).

Sammi Sullivan, junior, earned First Team All-FVA Honors as the Polar Bears’ leading pitcher. Sullivan pitched 223 strikeouts over 135 innings. She pitched 16 wins out of 20 games, of which 19 were complete games. Her ERA was 1.24.

Ally Fox, junior, received First Team All-FVA Honors. Fox led in singles (33) and posted the second best batting average on the team (.450). She cracked out the second most hits (36), tied for second in runs (21) and posted the third most total bases (40).

Taylor Allen, senior, landed Second Team All-FVA Honors. She tied for third in RBIs (16) and doubles (6). Allen posted the fourth most hits (25) and runs (20) and singles (19). She had the fourth strongest batting average for Hortonville (.368) and tied for fourth in total bases (31).

Whitney Baumann, sophomore, was a Second Team All-FVA Honors selection. Baumann tied for first in doubles (8) and tied for third in RBIs (16). She tied for fourth in total bases (31). During the spring season she posted 21 hits and 14 runs.

Baseball
Joe Cliver, junior, received First Team All-FVA Honors. Cliver was the leading runner for Hortonville (23) and third best hitter (26). He had the second best batting average with .351. Cliver pitched 11 games and four wins.

Jake Sommers, senior, was a First Team All-FVA Honors selection. Sommers led in total bases (61), hits (37), RBIs (27), triples (5) and home runs (3) this past season and went second in runs (21). He and Cliver tied for first in doubles (8). Sommers had the strongest batting average with .468.

Ty Dreier, senior, landed Second Team All-FVA Honors. Dreier led in putouts (140), hit the second most singles this past season (19) and tied for second in home runs (2). He ranked third for total bases (35). He posted 25 hits and nine runs.

Reece Frederick, senior, earned Second Team All-FVA Honors. Frederick hit the most singles (20) and went second for hits (27).
He tied for second in home runs (2). He had the third most putouts (41) and runs (20).

Girls’ Soccer
Miranda Natrop, junior, landed First Team All-FVA Honors. Natrop scored eight goals in an April 6 game at Little Chute to break the previous state record of seven in one game. She held that record alone for a month before Marinette’s Alex Cording tied it on May 5. Natrop had 27 goals and seven assists this past season.

Rachel Swichtenberg, senior, landed an All-FVA Honorable Mention. Swichtenberg scored seven goals and had 19 assists this past spring. Her best game for goals was two against Green Bay West on April 25 while her strongest for assists was five at Little Chute on April 6.

Ella Metten, sophomore, received an All-FVA Honorable Mention. Metten scored six goals this past season and had nine assists. She managed to score three goals at Green Bay West on April 25. The most assists she had was also three at Little Chute on April 6.

Track and Field
Cody Lohrenz, sophomore, received an All-FVA Honorable Mention for his performances in the 800-meter run and 400-meter dash.

His second-place finish in the 400-meter dash at the New London regional on May 26 broke Hortonville’s school record. He finished the race in 49.66 seconds.

Lohrenz ran the 800-meter run this year in 2:01.52 at the regional meet. Ten days later he placed 18th in the 400-meter dash preliminaries at the Division 1 State Track and Field Meet in La Crosse on June 5 with a time of 50.84 seconds.

Hannah Lohrenz, sophomore, landed an All-FVA Honorable Mention for her athleticism in the 3200-meter run and 1600-meter run this past spring.

A holder of four school records, Lohrenz placed 13th in the 1600-meter run at the Division 1 State Track and Field Meet in La Crosse on June 5. There her finishing time of 5:11.67 lowered her previous school record of 5:18.12.

She ran the 3200-meter run in 11:55.17 at the sectional meet in Ashwaubenon on May 29.

Besides breaking Hortonville High School’s 1600 record this year, she set records last year in the 800 (2:18.05), 3200 (11:50.20) and 4×800 relay (9:28.11).
