Hawks dive-bomb Bulldogs

New London loses to Xavier

The New London Bulldogs football team was in the red for rushing Friday, Aug. 21, losing its season opener to Xavier High School 46-16.

Xavier scored all 46 of their points during the first three quarters before New London caught a break in the fourth quarter.

Hunter Zaddack scored the Bulldogs’ first touchdown off an 18-yard pass from quarterback Jack Noffke in the last quarter. Noffke scored the extra point.

Later on in the quarter, Zaddack scored another touchdown off a 48-yard pass from Noffke. Noffke again kicked the extra point.

New London had the last scoring play of the game with a Johnnie Gonzalez safety.

The Bulldogs posted minus-19 yards rushing versus the Hawks’ 123. New London posted nine first downs, 239 passing yards and 220 total yards.

Noffke completed 18 of 30 passes and gave up one interception. Zaddack caught nine passes for a total of 210 yards.

The Bulldogs next play Friday, Aug. 28 at Green Bay East. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
