William Abraham Post, age 91, New London, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Residence on Friday, August 21, 2015 after a very blessed life.
He was born on February 12, 1924 in Lakefield, MN. Bill attended St. Paul Lutheran Grade School-Rost in Lakefield, MN and graduated from Okabena Consolidated High School in 1942. He served his country in the US Navy. On August 15, 1964, he married Ardene (Peters) Raney. Bill held several jobs; he retired from the Northern Trust Bank, Chicago after 28 years and then retired from Marshall Fields, Chicago after 25 years. Bill and Ardene traveled many places around the world, enjoying his 35 years of retirement. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Canfield, in Chicago, IL. Bill would like to thank his tenants who work his land. He loved being around the family, friends, and his dogs (Twinky and Shadow). He volunteered for the Salvation Army for many years ringing bells.
Bill is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ardene; stepson, Clyde (Laurie) Raney; brother, Jim; many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Marie Post; sister, Eunice; and brother in-law, Leo Peters.
Funeral serviced for Bill will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015, at 12:30 p.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Greenville with Rev. Nate Reichle officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Town of Caledonia. In lieu of flowers, Bill’s family would appreciate memorials to Comfort Dogs, St. Paul Lutheran of Canfield Chicago, IL and other charities.
