Polar Bears defeat Bulldogs in close game

New London soccer team defeats Waupaca, Sheboygan Falls

NEW LONDON – Jon Quale’s hat trick led the Hortonville Polar Bears soccer team to a 4-3 victory over their next-door rivals, the New London Bulldogs on Thursday, Sept. 24.

The first half saw three goals, all scored between 16 minutes and 21 minutes. New London made two of the three and held that lead for nearly 50 minutes, when Hortonville tied the game at 69 minutes. The Polar Bears then took off with three more goals in the final 20 minutes.

Hortonville’s Jacob Spaude also scored his first varsity goal.

Waupaca quad
WAUPACA – The Bulldogs won two games and tied for one at Waupaca on Saturday, Sept. 26.

New London defeated Sheboygan Falls 4-3 and Waupaca 2-1. They tied 1-1 with Middleton.

NEW LONDON – The Bulldogs won by a 10-point lead over the Green Bay West Wildcats at home on Sept. 22.

The Wildcats scored their lone goal about 19 minutes into the game.

Appleton West 5, Hortonville 1
APPLETON – Hortonville’s Jon Quale tied Appleton 1-1 with his team’s only goal at 40:34, but Appleton West pulled away in the second half.

Hortonville’s Owen Engel had 13 saves, and Appleton West had 8.

Hortonville also played at a Kaukauna invitational on Saturday, Sept. 26. Results were not submitted.
