John F. Wilson Jr., age 68, of New London, died unexpectedly on Friday, May 11, 2012 at the New London Family Medical Center. He was born on November 15, 1943 in Joplin, Missouri, son of the late John Sr. and Lucille (Shelton) Wilson. On February 14, 1964 he married Evelyn Smith. She preceded him in death on July 10, 1995. John resided in New London since 1974. He was formerly employed at Simmons in New London and also at Wal-Mart until his retirement. He is survived by his children: Cassandra Cunningham, Waupaca; Christina (Patrick) Grainger, Madison; Arthur Wilson, New London; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and a special friend Brian Wilson. Karen A. Voeltner, age 72, of Waupaca, died suddenly on Saturday, May 12, 2012. She was born in Milwaukee on December 9, 1939, daughter of the late Marvin and Eleanor (Michaels) Christopherson. On April 28, 1962 she was united in marriage to Robert R. Voeltner in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death in 2005. Karen and Robert lived in Milwaukee until moving to the Weyauwega area in 1972. She enjoyed traveling, camping and loved animals. She is survived by her children: Glen Voeltner, Weyauwega; Debra (Darrel) Roy, Iola; a step grandchild Sarah Roy; brother, Gary (Marilyn) Christopherson, West Allis. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, and also a son Paul Gary. Valois Sanders age 86, New London died on Friday, May 11, 2012. She was born on December 8, 1925, in the Town of Maple Creek, daughter of the late Emil and Selma (Rieck) Peters. She was united in marriage to Gerald "Bud" Sanders on September 20, 1947. Valois gave piano lessons out of her home for the past 55 plus years. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London. She is survived by her husband Gerald; a son Steve (Sandy) Sanders, Appleton; a sister, Jeanette Hoffman, Clintonville and a grandson Jared. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister LaVerne Remich. The Christian Funeral for Valois was held on Tuesday May 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London with Rev. Brian Hennig officiating. Burial is in St. John's Cemetery, Town of Caledonia. Robert C. Postel, age 82 of Embarrass passed away peacefully with family at his side on Wednesday afternoon May 9, 2012 at the Manawa Community Nursing Center. Robert was born on May 29, 1929 as the son of the late Carl and Lillian (Shelley) Postel. He graduated from Little Wolf High School with the Class of 1947 and soon after joined the United States Army Air Force serving in 1947. In November of 1948 he was united in marriage to Loretta Schneiderwendt at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa. The couple raised a family and were married for 46 years and divorced. In his younger years, Robert farmed for 10 years in rural Iola, then he worked at New London Plywood, Kimberly Clark, Appleton Paper Coated, the Institute of Paper Chemistry in Appleton, went back to farming, Miller Electric, and owned his own welding and fabrication shop in Manawa; retiring in 1987 when he sold the business to his son William. On April 5, 1997 Robert was united in marriage to Dorothy Zeuske in Embarrass where they were active members of the Zion Lutheran Church. Dorothy preceded Robert in death on August 2, 2000. Robert was an avid fisherman and was known as the “Great White Hunter”. He also enjoyed dancing and motorcycling. Survivors include: 5 children: Christine (H.W.) Deming, Bradonton, FL; Robert J. (Marlene) Postel, New London; Sandy Butler, Appleton; William (Sandy) Postel, Manawa; Diane Postel-Smith, Nichols; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; brothers: Charles Postel, LA; Keith Postel, New London; and Hal Postel, Amherst. Also many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy, a grandson Mark who also passed away on May 9th in 1988, and a sister Jane Deihl. Funeral services were held Tuesday May 15, 2012 at 11 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church in Embarrass, with Rev. Todd Jerabek officiating. Interment was at the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI at 2:30 pm on Tuesday. Military honor rites were conducted outside of the church following the funeral by members of the Clintonville American Legion Post #63 and VFW Post #664 of Clintonville. Friends called at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory in Clintonville from 6 – 8 PM Monday and at the church on Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of the service. Clarence A. Kernen, age 96 of Tigerton, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Iola Living Assistance. He was born on January 11, 1916, son of the late Otto and Anna (Poly) Kernen. On December 24, 1938, Clarence was united in marriage to Elaine Leitzke. She preceded him in death on April 5, 1997. The couple lived in Appleton for a short period before returning to the Wittenberg area where they farmed for over 22 years. In 1974, Clarence and Elaine retired from farming and moved to Tigerton. Clarence was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Clarence is survived by a son, Randall (Clarice) Kernen, Iola; two grandsons, Todd Kernen, CA and Colin (Shenan) Kernen, Iola; three great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Hailey and Sadie. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin and Harvey. A funeral service for Clarence was held at 11:00 on Thursday May, 10 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Matthew Uttenreither presiding. Clarence was laid to rest at Union Cemetery. Visitation was held from 9:30 until the hour of service at the church.
