April 3, 2012 | 0 comments

Shirley (Wyszynski) Slezewski, 78, died peacefully on Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Golden Living Nursing Home in Green Bay, WI following a short illness. She was born December 4, 1933, in Pulaski, WI, the daughter of the late Henry and Harriet Wyszynski, Krakow, WI. She graduated from Pulaski High School and briefly attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Shirley was united in marriage to Edward Slezewski on May 19, 1956, in Pulaski. Ed preceded Shirley in death on April 4, 1992. Throughout her life, Shirley was unfailingly generous. She brought her effervescent spirit to numerous volunteer efforts and organizations including nearly three decades with the Girl Scouts of America, Women's Lions Club, St. Joseph's Auxiliary and at Most Precious Blood Church among many others. In addition to being a member of the Red Hat Society, she enjoyed joining her friends over coffee and lunch on a regular basis to observe birthdays and holidays, or just to catch-up on the latest. An avid reader, Shirley was rarely without a stack of books nearby and often dreamed of writing her own mystery bestseller. Shirley is survived by her three devoted children: Randy (Amy), Green Bay; David (Cheryl), Sun Prairie; and Anne (Garrett) Davenport of Shorewood; brothers, Hank (Lola) Warren, Woodruff, WI; Leroy (Anne) Warren, Santa Fe, NM; and, Dennis (Rosalyn) Wyszynski, Carmel, CA. Shirley was the loving grandmother of five: Elaine, Karl, Kelly, Rachel and Samantha, and leaves many nieces and nephews and dozens of dear friends who will miss her gentle smile and quick laugh. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Edward, and a sister-in-law, Anne Warren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2012, at 11:00 AM at the Cline-Hanson Funeral Home in New London, (209 W. Cook St) with Fr. David Lewis officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will be in the Most Precious Blood Catholic Cemetery, New London. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established which will support Shirley's many charitable interests.
